| Who Can Become a Master Mason?
For the State of Kansas, under the Grand Lodge of Kansas, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons, the following are the requirements for petitioning a Lodge: 1. Be of Lawful Age: 18 years of age or older. 2. Believe in a Supreme Being: In all Masonic Lodges, the term “Grand Architect of the Universe” is used, not as a name of a specific Supreme Being, but as a “politically correct” title of the God or Supreme Being that an individual holds reverence towards. The use of the names God, Jesus, Jehovah, Allah, Budda, Mohammad and others are not excluded from being used by the Masons who are of that religion. Members are encouraged to place the book(s) of their specific belief on the Altar during their initiations. 3. Petition your Local Masonic Lodge. In Kansas. we have a program, whereby a man can be asked to join the Masons, by his friends or family. This is recognized as an honor to the non-Mason, that he is felt to have those qualities that would make him a good Mason. In many states, it is a requirement that the non-Mason must first ask a Mason about joining. Masonic Lodge Application Application to become a Mason begins with your local Masonic Lodge and may be made in a number of ways.
Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Application If your are already a Mason, you may wish to petition for Scottish Rite membership as an expansion and enhancement of your Masonic career.
